Starts with three friends, sailing a ship through Indonesia. We decided to start something a surf camp together and found the perfect spot in Gerupuk, a small village in south Lombok, Indonesia. Through months of planning and some extra help from BSA we became surf coaches and started a small scale surf school together with our local neighbours in the village.
In the beginning we rented various accommodations such as bungalow resorts, giant ships and luxury hotels. Eventually we saved up enough money to build our own place which is where we are located today. The building process was somewhat different from anything we had ever experienced before, to make a long story short you can say that we built on "day to day basis..." Six months later we put beds in one of the rooms and finally had our own accomodation, the kitchen however, was not finished until four months later.
The vision we all had in common was this: "To teach anyone to surf good enough to continue surfing on their own once they left the camp." To achieve this we knew that it would be impossible to have guests staying just a few days at the time, so we decided to run each camp for at least two weeks and have proper workshops and lectures about the theory behind waves, tides, weather, equipment and surf ethics.
Today we have something for all surfers, including a 60ft boat to make live-aboard trips to Sumbawa for those who want to take the adventure even further. We also have our own piece of land on the beach, custom designed to suit our guests with both a skate bowl and a bouldering wall. But we won’t stop here, there are always new things, new projects and new places to explore, even though all you need is surfing...
