Beginner

As an introduction to surfing these essential first sessions cover all you need to know to get going. The ABC session starts on the beach, then moves to the water working on board handling and safety, reading ocean conditions, paddling, catching broken waves, popping up and stopping safely. You’ll learn about the paddle out and techniques to make it easier, board control, quicker take offs, weight distribution and basic surfing etiquette. You will also benefit from the sessions focus on wave selection and catching and riding those green waves.

BEGINNERS may be surfing for the first time. You will be taught how to be safe in the water, as you catch your first waves. We’ll help to develop your confidence and surfing knowledge, offering you expert advice and teaching you the right techniques from the start. You’ll begin with learning fundamental surfing skills such as reading the sea conditions, sitting and paddling on the surfboard, standing -up movements in broken waves, and controlling the board with confidence. We have informal workshops to explain currents and tides, wave patterns, surfing etiquette and priority rules, how to understand surf reports, how to look after and wax your surfboard, together with warm-up and fitness exercises.
